Client: The Anchor

Challenge

When Mark and Sophie Dorber - drinks guru and chef, with the The Anchor White
Horse, Parson's Green as the Anchor's stablemate - took on
The Anchor, it was a tired pub in need of some TLC. Their challenge
was to serve high quality, local, seasonal food from the off, from a tiny
kitchen, and with a host of suppliers to find, veg to grow in their
allotment, fittings to refit and staff to recruit.

The AnchorOurs was to make it clear that things had changed, to help them to
stamp The Anchor's mark on the region, to support all their efforts
with printed and digital materials and an ad campaign.

Process

We took our inspiration for the logo from a photograph from the turn
of the last century, showing two locals beside the old inn sign.
With Mark and Sophie's input we selected a colour palette which
complemented the building's Arts and The AnchorCrafts styling whilst
communicating the coastal location, next to Walberswick's wide
sweep of beach, under its world-famous big sky.

The website was simple at first, deliberately so, but will soon be
replaced with a comprehensive on-line resource for local activities
and facilities, supplier details and tasting notes for their wines,
beers and softs.

From the start advertising has been events-led, with a warm and
witty style which sums up this friendly pub with some of the most
delicious food, best kept beer and intelligently selected wine
(including organic and biodynamic) in our flavour-rich region.

Result

The Anchor is now a mainstay of the Suffolk season, not to mention an
enormously popular venue for locals. They now have a
huge kitchen and stunning lit terrace with outdoors bar and are in the
process of updating their guest rooms. Our materials are used for all
aspects of the pub's branded activities - uniforms, EPOS receipts,
wine folders and menus, signage and so on.

The Anchor was our first  client in Suffolk and we continue to work alongside
one another to  great mutual benefit.
